20 years experience

I have more than 20 years experience as a garden designer, estate manager, community leader and teacher in the United Kingdom and the United States.

My clients range from individuals with large private estates to those with small city gardens as well as businesses and charitable organizations.

Commissions of any size welcome

Whether it’s an urban rooftop or a multi-roomed country garden, no commission is too small or too great.

Meeting clients needs

I work closely with my clients. I make sure your needs are met. But also offer practical advice and fresh insight - drawn from my professional experience - to encourage you to consider new ideas.

Respect for the environment

My mission is to create gardens that are beautiful and sensitive to the needs of my clients but also respectful of the environment and to the animals and insects that share it with us.

My gardens can be seen in London and Hertfordshire, Baltimore, Maryland; Dallas, Texas; and Nantucket, Massachusetts in the United States.

Contributing to the community

Community volunteering is important to me. As president of the Canton Garden Association in Baltimore, I helped organize fundraising events, special events and led a street tree planting campaign. I also donated my design services to create a dog park, a pocket park on a disused building site and a reading garden at the local library.

Workshops

The desire to share my enthusiasm and knowledge for the natural world has led me to present workshops on butterfly gardening, trough-container gardening and for ten years I taught groups of school children about the environment at the "Ladew Topiary Garden" as part of their Children’s Gardening Program.

Training

My expertise comes from a combination of "hands on" experience and self-education as well as studying at Norwood Hall Horticultural College (City and Guilds Phase 1), the Royal Horticultural Society (Certificate in Gardening Level 2) and the Community College of Baltimore County in Maryland (Certificate in Landscape Design and Installation).

Projects in the UK and in the US

For most of my career I have lived and worked in the North East Atlantic Region of the United States. I have recently moved back to the UK, Hastings E. Sussex to be exact. I’ll maintain a presence in the USA but I very much look forward to more projects here at home.
